On July 3, US President Donald Trump said he was ready to participate in negotiations between Washington and Tehran, if necessary.

According to the head of the White House, Iran wants to enter into a dialogue with him. He noted that the United States does not aim to harm the republic.

"I mean, I know that they [Iran] want to meet, and if necessary, I will do it," Trump told reporters at the Andrews military base near Washington in response to a question about negotiations with Iran.

He clarified that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is heavily involved in the process and has done a tremendous job regarding the negotiations.

The Axios portal reported on the same day that Witkoff's meeting with representatives of Iran within the framework of the nuclear deal will be held in Oslo, Norway, next week. The envoy plans to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
