Major drug trafficker Polyansky is being extradited from Colombia to Russia
Colombia is extraditing international drug trafficker Vladimir Polyansky at Russia's request. This was reported on July 3 in the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
"At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Colombia are extraditing Vladimir Polyansky to face criminal charges under Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (leadership of a structural unit of a criminal community), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 4, 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code (attempted illegal sale of narcotic drugs on a large and especially large scale size)," the agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that Polyansky has been in charge of the structural unit of the community since 2008, which is engaged in the supply from abroad and the sale of especially large quantities of drugs in the territory of the Russian Federation. In 2017, he was put on the international wanted list. In 2021, his criminal activities were suppressed, more than 131 kg of narcotic drugs were seized from illicit trafficking, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in absentia against Polyansky.
"The final decision on the extradition of [Polyansky] entered into force on June 3, 2025. <...> Accompanied by employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the National Security Council of Interpol, the accused will be taken to Moscow," the statement said.
A source from Izvestia reported on July 2 that a major drug dealer suspected of organizing an online store had been detained in St. Petersburg. It was clarified that during the searches, about 7.5 kg of drugs, four packages and 17 boxes of unidentified substances, as well as 1.6 million rubles, $2.5 thousand (about 190 thousand rubles) and €135 (about 12.5 thousand rubles) were seized from a 30-year-old man.
