The heads of the largest German corporations and companies met with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and urged her to change the direction of the economic policy of the European Union (EU). This was reported by the Bild newspaper on July 3.

The publication noted that the meeting was attended by the heads of the Lufthansa aircraft concern, E.on and Uniper energy companies, Henkel, Evonik chemical companies, Thyssenkrupp industrial concern, DHL logistics company, as well as Rheinmetall, Hochtief, Rewe and Covestro concerns.

It is clarified that the leaders were most unhappy with the problem of the duties imposed by the United States. In addition, they were concerned about climate protection and the "escalation of bureaucracy."

On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 19, the head of the German Council for Constitution and Sovereignty, Ralf Niemeyer, said that the German economy would be in danger of destruction if the EU decides to permanently stop importing Russian gas.
