The People's Assembly of Gagauzia (NSG) has accused the Moldovan authorities of excluding autonomy from the negotiations on integration into the European Union (EU). The text of the relevant declaration of the Presidium of the Parliament was published on the website of the National Assembly on July 3.

"Promoting the ideas of joining the European Union <... It is carried out by the leadership of the Republic of Moldova outside the generally accepted international democratic principles and without taking into account the opinion of the residents of the Gagauz Autonomy," the document says.

It is noted that Chisinau deliberately blocks Gagauzia's right to participate in decision-making on European integration, despite the right of autonomy enshrined in the Moldovan Constitution to participate in shaping the country's foreign and domestic policy on all issues.

The day before, the head of the Pobeda National Committee, Alexei Petrovich, said that the trial of the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Hutsul, was a reprisal to intimidate opponents. According to him, the Moldovan authorities' goal is to deprive the autonomy of the right to vote and force it to "thoughtlessly step towards the edge of the abyss called "European integration."
