Stanley Cup winner Orlov signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks


Stanley Cup winner Dmitry Orlov has signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). This was announced on July 3 by the team's press service.
"The club has signed defender Dmitry Orlov to a two—year contract worth $13 million dollars ($6.5 million in annual terms)," the website says.
Mike Grier, the club's general manager, called the Russian athlete a valuable addition to the team.
During his career in the NHL, 33-year-old Orlov participated in 867 matches, in which he scored 327 points (76 goals and 251 assists). He played for the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals, and Boston Bruins. As a member of the Russian national team, the hockey player became a world champion and won three bronze medals at the tournament.
The New York Islanders, an American NHL hockey club, signed a contract with Russian striker Maxim Shabanov on July 1. In the last regular season of the Fonbet Kontinental Hockey League, 24–year-old Shabanov scored 67 points in 65 games and became the third scorer of the tournament.
