- Restoration of the facades of the Belarusian Embassy building has begun in Moscow.

Restoration of the facades of the main house of the Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky estate, an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, has begun in the Basmanny district of the capital. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.
"This is an architectural monument of the late XVIII — mid-XIX centuries. Today it houses the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus," the Vice Mayor stressed.
The restorers will have to put in order the stucco decoration, exterior stairs, balconies, sculptures on the facade of the building and the historical fence.
The building is located on Maroseika Street. It is known that the main house of the Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky estate was visited by writer Nikolai Karamzin, poets Vasily Zhukovsky and Pyotr Vyazemsky.
The three-storey eclectic mansion with elements of classicism and Baroque was built in 1782. Experts have no consensus on who designed it. Some attribute the authorship to Matvey Kazakov, others to Vasily Bazhenov.
In 1793, the commander, Field Marshal Pyotr Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, who became famous during the Seven Years' War and the Russian-Turkish War, became the owner of the house.
The building acquired a modern look by the 1880s, when architect George Kaiser added female sculptures to the facade. Under the cornice, you can see the coat of arms with stucco figures of angels.
In the second half of the 1950s, the estate was transferred to the representative office of the Byelorussian SSR.
