The "Scarlet Sails" holiday was celebrated in leading foreign publications
The alumni celebration "Scarlet Sails – 2025" was noticeably noted by leading foreign publications. For example, the Chinese Xinhua news agency called the event one of the most iconic cultural traditions of St. Petersburg.
"The colorful show filled the Neva River with magic. The brig with scarlet sails sailed majestically," says the publication of the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
Other Chinese publications, such as SINA and SOHU, also told their readers about the Russian holiday.
"This is the most poetic time of the year: the sun does not set, and the Neva River shines with silver light, as in a dream. <...> Tonight, as promised, the Scarlet Sails holiday will take place," SOHU wrote on June 28.
In addition, some foreign media outlets, such as the Argentine newspaper Clarín and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agency WAM, broadcast a water pyrotechnic show. Korean and Italian publications posted photos and videos from the celebration on their resources.
The Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration took place in St. Petersburg on the night of June 29 and became one of the most discussed events of the week. The audience shared their impressions of the event on June 30.
In 2005, the "Scarlet Sails" began to be held again after a long-term hiatus. The initiative to revive it was taken by Joint Stock Bank ROSSIYA, the government of St. Petersburg and Channel Five.
