The head of the LPR confirmed the death of the former mayor of Lugansk Pilavov in an explosion

On July 3, the head of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), Leonid Pasechnik, confirmed the death of the former mayor of Lugansk, Manolis Pilavov, as a result of an explosion in the city.

"Today, as a result of a vile terrorist attack in the center of Lugansk, the former head of the administration of the capital of our republic, Manolis Pilavov, was killed," Pasechnik wrote on his Telegram channel.

The head of the LPR expressed confidence that the perpetrators of the incident will be found and will be punished as they deserve. Pasechnik noted that Pilavov had done a lot for the development of Lugansk, and led the city "during the most difficult time."

Pilavov died as a result of an explosion of an unknown nature on Taras Shevchenko Street in Luhansk earlier that day. Three other people were also injured in the incident, one of them is in serious condition. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case into the explosion.
