The Polish authorities will send 5,000 troops to strengthen border control with Germany and Lithuania. On July 3, the chief of the General Staff of the Polish army, Weslaw Kukula, told reporters.

"Starting on Monday, 5,000 soldiers will be delegated to perform tasks at the borders: 4,000 to the border with Germany, 1,000 will be sent to the border with Lithuania," the portal quotes him as saying. Gazeta.pl .

Kukula noted that illegal migration is a real threat to the security of the state, and border protection is the responsibility of the army.

On July 1, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland would introduce temporary border controls with Germany and Lithuania from July 7 due to the large number of migrants. He pointed out that Warsaw's patience with migration issues is "running out."
