The Russian Football Union (RFU) has suspended Vladimir Pisarsky, a forward of the Sochi football club, for four years, three of which will be conditional. This was announced on July 3 by his lawyer Anton Smirnov.

The RFU initiated an investigation into Pisarsky after information about a possible bet made through third parties on the RPL play-off match against Paris NN, which ended with a score of 1:2. In that game, the player received a red card in the first half, according to Sport-Express.

"The meeting of the RFU Ethics Committee has ended. The decision has been made. The sanction was applied exclusively under Article 18 of the RFU Ethics Regulations — four years of suspension from football—related activities, of which one year of a real term, three years of probation, two years of probation," the lawyer's Telegram channel says.

Earlier, on June 20, Leonid Sobolev, the owner of the Torpedo football club, and Valery Skorodumov, the director, were charged with bribery. It was noted that the defendants allegedly offered the chief referee over 1 million rubles for winning the match, awarding penalties to opponents or removing their player. Later, the defense of the owner of Torpedo appealed against his arrest.
