A yellow weather hazard level was introduced in Moscow and the Moscow region due to a thunderstorm on Friday, July 4. This was reported by the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia on Thursday, July 3.

The thunderstorm warning will become effective from 12:00 Moscow time. In the capital, the yellow weather danger level was set until 19:00, and in the Moscow region — until 22:00, the Moscow city news agency reports.

The yellow level warns residents about potentially dangerous weather, clarifies 360.ru .

In turn, Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center, said in an interview with RT that starting next week, the air temperature in the metropolitan region will begin to rise steadily.

On the same day, Alexey Kokorin, a climate expert at the Nature and People Foundation, explained the reasons for the low temperatures in early summer. According to him, this is due to the intrusion of cold air from the north. He clarified that the border between the Arctic and temperate latitudes has become more mobile, so "long Rossby waves" have gone along it, affecting the weather. Accordingly, due to their strengthening, the air "got" to Moscow.

On the eve of July 2, Deputy Director for Science of the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, climatologist Alexander Chernokulsky said that predicting the weather reliably for a week is by definition impossible due to the chaos in the atmosphere, a relatively accurate forecast is made for three days.
