Sweden will supply 10 new barrels for Archer artillery systems to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Swedish government will provide Ukraine with an additional 1.5 billion kronor ($160 million) military aid package, which will include 10 new Archer artillery barrels, underwater drones and long-range ammunition. This was reported on the Swedish government's website on July 3.

"The decision will allow Ukraine to continue using the Swedish Archer system, which has proven itself well on the battlefield," the statement said.

It is noted that in the context of the Ukrainian conflict, the barrels of artillery installations used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) wear out quickly and require frequent replacement.

The military assistance package will also include long-range ammunition, underwater systems, trucks, loaders and cranes.

Kiev needs 2.5 million artillery rounds per year to conduct effective defensive battles.

On May 28, Russian Ambassador to Stockholm Sergey Belyaev announced that Sweden had supplied Kiev with "serious" types of weapons worth $8.2 billion since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the Armed Forces were provided with long-range radar detection and control aircraft, about 200 armored personnel carriers, 90 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, eight Archer artillery systems, as well as tanks, attack boats and combat equipment.
