- Denmark has announced its intentions to increase pressure on Hungary to admit Ukraine to the EU.

Denmark, as president of the Council of the European Union (EU), will increase pressure on Hungary, including due to Budapest's unwillingness to see Ukraine as a member of the European Union (EU). This was reported by Politico on July 3, citing Danish Minister for European Affairs Marie Bjerre.
"Denmark wants Europe to use its entire legal arsenal against Hungary in connection with violations of the bloc's fundamental rights, including by using the so—called nuclear option against Budapest in accordance with Article 7," the material says.
According to the minister, one of the problems for Denmark was Hungary's obstruction of EU enlargement. She drew attention to Hungary's "ongoing blockade" of Ukraine's membership.
In addition, the minister announced her desire to deprive Budapest of the right to vote in the Council of the European Union in accordance with Article 7 of the EU Treaty, as Hungary allegedly violates the basic values of the association.
In addition, Bierre noted that the bloc should consider restricting access to EU funds for states that violate European law.
Earlier, on July 1, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine should not join the European Union (EU) under the accelerated program, despite the plans of Brussels. He stressed that Montenegro had been waiting for about 15 years to join the bloc, but had not received an invitation even if the conditions and criteria for joining the EU were met.
