The Russian government needs to take all measures to adopt the law on the platform economy as soon as possible. This was announced on July 3 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the Russian government.

"E-commerce is growing today, and marketplaces and services are gaining more and more demand, allowing you to order and pay for goods and services in a convenient format. It is important to create a transparent and effective regulatory framework for the dynamic development of this segment," he is quoted as saying on the government's Telegram channel.

He noted that when drafting the law, it is important to protect the interests of both people who use online platforms and entrepreneurs who offer their goods and services on them. The Prime Minister instructed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko to take the accelerated preparation of the law under his personal control.

Mishustin stressed that businesses will have enough time to prepare for the innovations that will be introduced with the entry into force of the law. It should take place no later than March 1, 2027.

On June 30, the government commission on legislative activity approved a draft law on the platform economy. Rules of interaction will be established for sellers and marketplaces, and the bill also creates a legal foundation for the functioning of the platform economy.
