The Central Bank of Russia records moderate economic growth in the second quarter of this year. This was announced on July 3 at a briefing at the Financial Congress of the regulator by the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina.

"In general, our preliminary assessment shows that in the second quarter, if compared with the first quarter, there is a moderate pace of economic growth," Nabiullina said.

In addition, the head of the Central Bank stressed that for the development of the capital market in Russia, incentives are needed not only for investors, but also for issuers, and the Bank of Russia is developing them. Nabiullina added that the Central Bank managed to stop the growing overheating in the Russian economy at the end of 2024, and it is important to ensure a smooth return to balanced growth.

"Now it is very important, indeed, to ensure this smooth trajectory of a return to a steady pace of economic growth," she said.

The day before, Nabiullina said that the adaptation of the Russian economy to external changes had ended. In particular, speaking about financial adaptation, the head of the Central Bank stressed that the Russian economy needed to change its development model and rely on internal sources of financing.
