Recently, Ukraine has been increasingly attacking Hungary because of its refusal to support the republic's membership in the European Union (EU), but Budapest is able to decide for itself what to vote for. This was announced on July 3 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"Ukrainians are attacking Hungary more and more violently because we stopped Ukraine's accession to the EU," he wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

According to Orban, the Ukrainian side should understand that Budapest does not support the country's membership in the association for fundamental and strategic reasons.

"Kiev must admit that it is not he who tells the Hungarian people what to think!" concluded the Hungarian Prime Minister.

On July 1, Orban noted that Ukraine should not join the EU under the accelerated program, despite the plans of Brussels. According to him, Montenegro has been waiting for about 15 years to join the bloc, but it has not received an invitation even if the conditions and criteria for joining the EU are met.
