A Moscow pensioner believed fraudsters who introduced themselves as the mayor of the capital and an FSB general, and lost more than 7 million rubles. This was announced on July 3 by a source of Izvestia.

It is noted that on June 25, an unknown person called the 77-year-old resident of Moscow, who identified himself as an employee of the mayor's office. He switched the pensioner to a video call, warning that the mayor wanted to talk to him.

"A fraudster who looks like the mayor of the capital said that money was stolen from the city budget, and the man accidentally received part of this amount. The conman was joined by a uniformed accomplice who introduced himself as an FSB general. He accused the pensioner of financing a traitor to the Motherland," the source said.

The scammers convinced the Muscovite that he had become a defendant in a treason case. After a call from a fake employee of Rosfinmonitoring, the man agreed to transfer his savings to a "secure account" and within four days transferred more than 7 million rubles to unknown persons.

An investigation is underway into the incident.

On the same day in Moscow, fraudsters, under the pretext of communicating with a former employer, were able to convince a pensioner to transfer 11 million rubles to them. It is reported that the 70-year-old Muscovite was contacted by the deputy CEO of the company where she previously worked. Then, allegedly, law enforcement officers reported that personal data had been leaked and they were trying to steal her money.
