Geely denied information about the brand's departure from Russia

Chinese automaker Geely has denied information about the brand's departure from Russia. This was reported to Izvestia by the company's press service on July 3.
Earlier, on the Telegram channel of Tagaz brand fans, based on information available to him from dealers, he announced that the Geely brand had been fully withdrawn from the Russian market. The company's cars will be sold under the brands BelGee and Knewstar. Atlas and Monjaro crossovers may begin to be assembled in Russia under new brands, an anonymous source said.
"There was information in the media that allegedly Russian Geely dealers were notified that the brand was going to leave the market with reference to the Tagaz car fan club. This information is not true. The Geely brand continues to operate in Russia and considers such sources of information to be untrustworthy," said a Geely representative.
Earlier it became known that from March 2022 to May 2025, 1.8 million Chinese passenger cars, 200 thousand trucks and slightly less than 7 thousand light commercial vehicles (LCVs) were registered in Russia.
Among Chinese brands in the passenger segment, the top five in terms of volume since March 2022 include Haval (385.2 thousand units), Chery (355.9 thousand units), Geely (295.2 thousand units), Changan (179.5 thousand units) and Omoda (104.1 thousand units), said Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency Autostat..
