Since the beginning of summer, the area of forest fires in the Trans—Baikal Territory has decreased 55 times to 18 thousand hectares. This was announced on Thursday, June 3, by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
"There are currently 14 forest fires on 18,000 hectares in the region. This is 55 times less than in the first days of summer. Of these, 8 fires were localized on more than 17 thousand hectares," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that during the day nine fires were eliminated on 4.8 thousand hectares in Alexandrovo-Zavodsky, Kyrinsky, Nerchinsky, Tungiro-Olekminsky and Uletovsky districts.
344 people and 44 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. There is no threat to human settlements.
On July 2, 16 fires were eliminated in Transbaikalia, the total area of which was 250 thousand hectares. At that time, 341 specialists and 50 pieces of equipment were working at the fire sites.
