- The State Duma decided to return a 50% discount on the payment of fines for traffic violations

Amendments to the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation have been submitted to the State Duma for consideration, providing for the return of a 50% discount on fines for traffic violations. The document was published on July 3 in the legislative support system of the Parliament.
Amendments are being made to Article 32.2 of the Administrative Code, according to which, "no later than twenty days from the date of the decision to impose an administrative fine, an administrative fine may be paid in the amount of 50 percent of the amount of the administrative fine imposed." If it is paid within 21-30 days after the relevant decision is issued, the discount will remain the same — 25% of the fine amount.
According to the author of the bill, deputy Yaroslav Nilov, the return of the previously valid discount amount "will help maintain the workload of enforcement authorities."
"For years, such a system has worked quite normally, increasing the "penalty collection" and at the same time reducing both the judicial and administrative burden on officials," the parliamentarian said in his Telegram channel.
At the same time, the introduction of a gradation in the amount of the fine depending on the time of its repayment will be an additional incentive for car owners to pay such a fine as soon as possible, Nilov noted.
The day before, it was reported that by the end of 2024, 255.1 million traffic violations were recorded in Russia, which is 6.3% more than a year earlier.
