The climatologist spoke about the reasons for the cold start of summer in Russia

Low temperatures in early summer in the European part of Russia are associated with the intrusion of cold air from the north. This was announced on July 3 by Alexey Kokorin, an expert on climate issues at the Nature and People Foundation.
"The cold start is due to the intrusion of cold air from the north. There is nothing unusual or abnormal about this. Another thing is that due to global warming and the unstable border with the Arctic, the Arctic air is encroaching more and more deeply into the south," said Kokorin.
According to the expert, climate change in temperate latitudes is associated with warming air in the Arctic. Kokorin noted that the border between the Arctic and temperate latitudes has become more mobile, so "long Rossby waves" have gone along it, affecting the weather. Due to their intensification, the air "got" not only to Moscow, but also to Texas, Morocco and Jerusalem.
The expert also stressed that the temperature of the advancing air from the Arctic to the south is increasing, but these flows remain cold. Accordingly, the climate in the Russian Federation is becoming unstable against the background of global warming, as there are elevated temperatures and lower temperatures in different periods.
Earlier, on July 2, meteorologists reported that in the first half of July, moderately warm weather with short-term rains is expected in the center of European Russia. It was specified that on July 4 it would be 24-25 degrees Celsius, and by the first weekend of July it would be 18-20 degrees. In addition, the air temperature will average 22-24 degrees until the middle of the month.
