A criminal case has been opened in the Tambov region after the death and injury of workers as a result of a fire in one of the workshops of a factory in Kotovsk. This was reported on July 3 by the Investigative Committee (IC) for the region.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Tambov region have opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities that negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons")," the report says.

The Investigative Committee clarified that an investigative team is currently working on the territory of the plant, which is establishing the causes and circumstances of the incident.
