The Ukrainian conflict is at a turning point due to the suspension by the United States of military aid supplies, in particular missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM). This was reported by the Washington Post (WP) on July 2.

"The conflict in Ukraine <...> has reached a critical point. <...> Ukraine is facing a shortage of weapons and soldiers. <...> And now there is news that the administration of [US President Donald] Trump suspends some arms shipments to Ukraine. This pause concerns the Patriot air defense system," the publication says.

It is noted that this installation was the central element of the defense of the Ukrainian army and its supplies were promised to Kiev by the former head of the White House Joe Biden. According to the newspaper, Ukraine's supporters in the West warn that without an immediate increase in aid, "Kiev's catastrophic failure may be inevitable."

The Politico newspaper reported on July 1 that the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, decided not to supply Kiev with the promised military aid due to the threat of a reduction in US stocks. Later, on July 2, NBC News learned that Patriot air defense systems, among others, were included in the list of "frozen" military equipment.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that this decision indicates not only the depletion of Washington's reserves, but also the possible imminent completion of a special military operation.
