The doctor called for sunbathing with dry hair and wearing a hat

When sunbathing with wet hair, a person runs the risk of heat and sunstroke, and also accelerates hair burnout and damage. This was announced on July 3 by internist, cardiologist Sergey Vechtomov.
According to the expert, water droplets, like lenses, focus the sun's rays on the area where they are located, which can lead to microburnings. This, combined with seawater or chlorine, which is contained in the pool, will dry out the skin and accelerate hair burnout, which will lead to their subsequent damage due to the destruction of the hair protein, keratin.
"The risk of heat stroke is increasing. Wet hair interferes with thermoregulation. The water heats up in the sun, creating a "greenhouse effect" for the head. <...> The probability of sunstroke also increases — a wet head reflects heat worse, which leads to a risk of rapid overheating of the brain," Vechtomov said "Газете.ги ".
Especially, as the specialist emphasized, children and people with vascular problems should be careful. According to him, the symptoms of strokes can manifest themselves in the form of dizziness and nausea.
The doctor recommended staying in the shade for a while after bathing so that the hair could dry out a little, and also advised wearing hats during the hours of solar activity, which begin at 11:00 a.m. and last on average until 4 p.m. In addition, he added that specialized hair sprays with a UV filter can be used to reduce the harmful effects of the sun.
Cosmetologist, dermatovenerologist Ekaterina Anchikova said that regular consumption of tomatoes, tomato paste in combination with olive oil, the inclusion of pomegranate, watermelon, dark-leafed vegetables, and green tea in the diet will reduce the risk of sunburn.
