Remote-controlled submarine for drug delivery found in Colombia


In Colombia, they found a remote-controlled submarine that could be used to transport drugs. This was reported on July 2 by the Spanish newspaper El Pais.
"The Colombian Navy (National Naval Forces of the Republic of Colombia. — Ed.) reported on Wednesday the interception of a remote—controlled submarine capable of carrying more than 1.5 tons of gasoline in the Caribbean Sea," the publication says.
It is specified that she was discovered on April 1 in the vicinity of Tyrone Park on the Caribbean coast. The boat was equipped with two antennas and a Starlink modem, which allows for communication via satellite Internet. There were no illegal substances on the boat at the time of the discovery.
Mexico's Minister of Public Safety and Citizen Protection Omar Garcia Harfush said on June 27 that the country's Navy intercepted and detained a submarine belonging to drug traffickers carrying 3.5 tons of cocaine. It was clarified that three foreign citizens were also detained, and the interception of the boat caused damage to drug traffickers in the amount of $42.5 million.
