Chechens sleep much longer than other Russians. On average, the population of the region allocates 10 hours and 5 minutes a day to sleep. This conclusion was made by analysts of the FinExpertiza audit and consulting network based on Rosstat data. The study is available to Izvestia.

On average, Russians spend 8 hours and 43 minutes a day sleeping. At the same time, residents of Chechnya sleep the longest — 10 hours and 5 minutes. The Smolensk region (9 hours 7 minutes), Moscow (9 hours 12 minutes), Kabardino-Balkaria (9 hours 5 minutes) and Ingushetia (9 hours 4 minutes) are also among the leaders in the amount of sleep.

In addition, experts have also found that women sleep nine minutes longer than men.

At the same time, when calculating the indicators, the time it takes to fall asleep and wake up, as well as periods of insomnia, was taken into account, FinExpertiza experts explained.

"It is worth noting that the overall indicator is increasing due to the participation in the study of unemployed categories of the population, including pensioners, who have more opportunities for recreation," the experts also said.
