- The Pentagon announced the reduction of the Iranian nuclear program for up to two years.

Iran's nuclear program was postponed for up to two years after the American airstrikes on the Islamic Republic's nuclear infrastructure. This was announced on July 2 at a briefing for journalists by Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.
"We have reduced their program by 1-2 years, at least that's what the [Defense] ministry's intelligence suggests," the Reuters news agency quoted him as saying.
Parnell did not provide evidence to support his assessment. A Pentagon spokesman suggested that the US military operation had probably achieved its goals, despite a much more cautious initial assessment that had become public.
On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that American strikes had caused serious damage to Iran's nuclear facilities. He noted that Iran's nuclear program will continue to be exclusively peaceful. In addition, the diplomat stressed that he doubts the rapid resumption of negotiations with the United States.
