A bust of Pushkin was dismantled in Berestin, Kharkiv region.


The bust of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, which was located next to the monument of the Ukrainian novelist Taras Shevchenko in the city of Berestin, Kharkiv region, was dismantled. This was announced on July 2 by Svetlana Krivenko, Chairman of the Berestinsky City Council.
"The monument will be in storage, and then a decision will be made on what to do with the monuments to [Vladimir] Lenin and Pushkin. We also have the grave of Serhiy Shchuchka, we will wait for the decision of the department, the decision of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine," Krivenko said in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of Public.
This bust was located near the library of the Berestinsky City Council. According to the chairman, the monument was sent for storage to a local museum. She added that the bust represents a "material value" that should not be thrown away.
Krivenko also clarified that the monument will be replaced after the community votes.
On June 28, Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov publicly argued with a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during an action to demolish the Pushkin monument on Birzhevaya Square. Earlier, on May 7, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that in Sumy, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the authorities removed the bas-relief and stele with the dates of the beginning and end of the Great Patriotic War from the memorial.
