On July 2, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova ridiculed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's comment about the work of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"It's not for nothing that Lavrov worked for so many years, since he made the NATO Secretary General remember Jesus Christ," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

In an interview with Fox News, Rutte recalled the time of Jesus Christ, awkwardly trying to discredit Lavrov's diplomatic service.

On June 30, Lavrov announced that a catastrophic increase in military spending by NATO countries would eventually lead to the destruction of this organization. At the same time, he recalled that Russia plans to reduce its military spending and be guided by common sense, and not by "fictional and unreflected threats" promoted by NATO member countries.
