The lawyer commented on the criminal case that the Investigative Committee (IC) initiated after a number of cases when the coach's "students" harassed girls on the streets of Moscow. Smirnov noted that this persecution "does not bother" his client, since he is located outside of Russia.

"Given that he is abroad, the formal existence of some kind of persecution in Russia does not actually limit him in any way. Accordingly, he doesn't really care about this issue," Smirnov said in an interview with RT.
