The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) sentenced a 57-year-old local resident to 14 years in a penal colony, who was found guilty of treason and extremism. This was announced on July 2 by the press service of the DPR Prosecutor's office.
It is specified that the defendant provided financial assistance to Ukraine in activities that were directed against Russia's security. In addition, he also posted a video on the Internet calling for the killing of Russian people.
The ministry clarified that the man was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason") and Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code ("Public calls for extremist activities").
"The court <...> sentenced him to 14 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high—security penal colony with restriction of liberty for a period of 1.5 years," the statement said.
In addition, the court also imposed a fine of 30,000 rubles on him.
Earlier that day, a court in the Krasnodar Territory sentenced 51-year-old Sergei Maklakov to 13 years in a penal colony in a case of treason. It was noted that in February 2024, a man collected and transmitted information about the location of submarines to Kiev.
