The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has arrested Kamal Safarov, the seventh person involved in the murder case as part of an organized criminal group. This was reported on July 2 in the press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.
"The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg <...> has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of suspect Safarov Kamal Gadimali oglu until July 19, 2025," the Telegram channel says.
It clarifies that the person involved is suspected of committing a crime under paragraph "g" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder committed by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior agreement or an organized group").
On June 28, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported that the activities of an ethnic criminal group, whose members are suspected of a number of murders and attempted murders in recent years, had been suppressed in the Sverdlovsk region. According to investigators, people from Azerbaijan, who are citizens of the Russian Federation, are involved in crimes in Yekaterinburg committed in 2001, 2010 and 2011. Several suspects confessed.
Later, in Yekaterinburg, law enforcement officers also detained the leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Shahin Shikhlinski.
Subsequently, the court detained Akif, Ayaz, Bakir and Mazakhir Safarov, Ahliman Ganjiev, as well as Shahin Lalayev. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has charged these individuals.
