Blood vessels play a key role in the body, ensuring the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to organs. With age and with the wrong lifestyle, their condition worsens, which can lead to serious illnesses. Pavel Trakhtman, head of the transfusiology department at the Dmitry Rogachev Children's Medical Center and an expert on the +Ya donation project, told Izvestia on July 3.

"Excess saturated and trans fats in the diet, for example, increases the level of "bad" cholesterol, which is deposited on the walls of blood vessels, narrowing their lumen. This leads to atherosclerosis, the main cause of heart attacks and strokes," the specialist noted.

In addition, excessive salt intake can cause hypertension, and sugar can damage blood vessels. However, this does not mean that you should completely abandon your favorite foods. According to the doctor, it is important to choose a variety and balance in nutrition.

Trakhtman also drew attention to the fact that a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, alcohol and chronic stress negatively affect blood vessels. A sedentary lifestyle slows down blood flow and increases the risk of blood clots, while nicotine makes blood vessels brittle. Alcohol causes drastic changes in vascular tone, and stress increases blood pressure due to the hormone cortisol.

"Chronic stress can also damage blood vessels. The reason is the hormone cortisol, which increases blood pressure and promotes inflammation of the vascular walls," the expert said.

The specialist added that genetic predisposition plays an important role. However, healthy habits can help reduce the risks. These include fiber intake, moderate physical activity, sleep normalization, and regular medical checkups.

The expert concluded that prevention is not a substitute for treatment, and if symptoms of cardiovascular diseases occur, you should consult a specialist.

On June 24, endocrinologist, gynecologist, nutritionist and nutritionist Alexey Kalinchev said that snacking is not beneficial and only knocks down the diet. According to him, the reason for this is an incorrect diet. The specialist recommended to completely abandon snacking, allowing exceptions only in case of long breaks between meals.
