The analyst explained the principle of installing RuStore on the iPhone

The Federation Council has approved a law requiring the installation of the Russian RuStore app store on Apple devices sold in Russia. This is part of the policy on import substitution and digital sovereignty. However, for ordinary users and developers, the law raises a number of practical questions. Ekaterina Kosareva, managing partner of the analytical agency VMT Consult, told Izvestia about this on July 2.
According to her, the RuStore icon will physically appear on the devices, by analogy with the mandatory installation of Russian applications at the first launch. However, access to familiar apps from the AppStore will not disappear. The AppStore will still be available, but an alternative will appear. Important: the mere presence of RuStore does not mean that it will duplicate all applications from the AppStore.
"There is absolutely no automatic transfer of applications from the AppStore. In order for the application to appear in RuStore, the developer must go through a separate registration procedure, comply with Russian requirements (including security and data localization), download the APK and set up publication," Kosareva clarified.
She added: this is especially true for foreign developers, many of whom may simply not want to undergo these procedures or may not have the legal opportunity to do so.
For Apple users, especially those who use an iPhone, there will still be no direct installation of applications from RuStore, since iOS does not support alternative stores in the usual Android sense. The law requires that Apple provide the technical capability to install RuStore. Exactly how this will be implemented is not yet clear. Perhaps we are talking about a "catalog application" or a web interface.
There is also no information yet on how Apple will comply with this rule without violating its ecosystem and security policy, especially given the company's strict policy on installing third-party software sources.
Earlier, on February 27, it was reported that mostly young people (18-24 years old) are interested in gaming purchases. Thus, 58% of respondents of this age have paid at least once, according to RuStore data.
