- Hamas announced that it was studying the proposals of the mediators to stop the fire in Gaza.
The Palestinian Hamas movement has begun consultations to discuss proposals from mediators on how to reach an agreement and end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the radicals said in a statement on July 2.
They noted that the mediators are making efforts for the parties to the conflict to reach a framework agreement and begin serious negotiations.
"We are acting with high responsibility and holding national consultations to discuss proposals from the mediation brothers in order to reach an agreement guaranteeing the cessation of aggression and the withdrawal of [the Israeli military]," the Hamas Telegram channel said.
The main positions of the agreement should be guarantees of a cease-fire in Gaza, the withdrawal of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops, as well as the import of humanitarian aid into the enclave, the movement said.
On July 1, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel had agreed to terms for a 60-day cease-fire in the Gaza Strip during a meeting with representatives of the White House. He noted that during this period, the White House will maintain contacts with the parties in order to put an end to this conflict.
On July 2, the Associated Press agency, in turn, indicated that the Hamas movement had declared its readiness to conclude a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, but not on the terms of the US president.
