A Ugandan army helicopter crash in Somalia killed five people and injured six others. This was announced on July 2 by the Ugandan Armed Forces.
They noted that the Mi-24 helicopter crashed while carrying out a planned combat support mission, the detonation of on-board ammunition occurred, resulting in significant damage to nearby buildings.
"Three civilians were injured. The pilot, co—pilot and flight engineer survived the crash, but were seriously injured. <...> As a result of the helicopter crash, five people were killed," the Ugandan Armed Forces website says.
The helicopter crash at the Aden-Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, was reported earlier in the day by the SONNA news agency. It was clarified that there were eight people on board the aircraft. After the crash, the helicopter caught fire, but the fire was quickly contained.
