The military expert pointed out the problems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with air defense systems

First of all, Ukraine needs air and missile defense systems. This was stated on July 2 in an interview with Izvestia by former special forces officer, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, commenting on information that the weapons supplied by the United States would be enough for the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the end of the summer, after which the situation could become critical.

"If all this is not delivered, the fire efficiency of Ukraine's defense will decrease by an order of magnitude," the source stressed.

Matviychuk also commented on the cessation of supplies of PAC-3 missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the shortage of GMLRS shells for HIMARS systems. He explained that without these weapons, the systems would not be able to perform their tasks. The expert clarified that Patriot missiles are designed to combat drones and other threats, and the lack of ammunition makes HIMARS launchers practically useless.

"The allies will, of course, now buy missiles for Patriot and HIMARS all over the world. Perhaps they will give something from their arsenals," he added, stressing that not all states are ready to support Ukraine as actively as the United States.

As for the strategy of using Ukraine's existing arsenal, the expert suggested that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could start saving ammunition by resorting to older and less effective systems. In his opinion, this will certainly affect the combat capability of the army.

Carlo Masala, a military expert and professor at the Bundeswehr University in Munich, told the Bild newspaper on the same day that Ukraine would only have enough ammunition until the end of summer, so the situation could become critical without US help. According to him, Europe was hoping for US military assistance, but American leader Donald Trump was not going to follow the plan of European leaders.
