Russian producers have taken leading positions in the world ranking, which indicates the high importance of brewing companies in the country. This was announced on July 2 by Vyacheslav Mamontov, Executive Director of the Association of Beer, Malt and Beverage Producers.

"Over the years of sanctions, brewers have managed to adapt to external influences and, at the same time, increase production. In particular, the brewing industry is among the leaders among all alcohol in terms of launching new SKUs (articles. — Ed.)," the expert noted.

According to Mamontov, there is currently a slowdown in the positive dynamics of the industry, due to an unplanned increase in the excise tax rate. He stressed that this situation could lead to stagnation in the future, as the current growth is partly due to the "whitewashing" of the market by the efforts of the state and brewers.

In June, the German newspaper Kettner Edelmetalle noted that many breweries in the country dropped out of the list of the world's 40 largest beer producers. It is specified that this happened due to the nationalization of Baltika (formerly Carlsberg) and OPH Vereinigte Brauereien (formerly Heineken) companies in Russia. These manufacturers have taken one of the leading places in the world rankings.

The Bild newspaper added that the withdrawal of German brewing companies and the subsequent nationalization of their assets in Russia led to the restructuring and growth of the market in Russia.

"Both previously Western—controlled corporations, which now operate independently and are gaining strength," the publication says.

On March 28, the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) announced that beer production had increased in Russia. So, in February, brewers produced 48 million liters of the drink more than in January: 661 million to 612 million liters, respectively.

Later, on April 28, Kamal Lebedev, executive director of the association of beer and alcohol market participants, stressed that the skill of brewers is growing in Russia now. According to his data, there are currently over 2,000 breweries in Russia. There are about 200 large enterprises.
