The deputy speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Tibor Gaspar, condemned the country's former defense minister Yaroslav Nagy for supplying ammunition to Ukraine. He made the corresponding statement in a video message posted on July 2 on the YouTube channel of the Slovak SMER party.

According to Gaspar, the former head of the Slovak Ministry of Defense fled to Canada when he was called to account for spending from the state budget, and upon his return publicly declared "what a martyr he is."

"The Supreme Audit Office, following the results of the audit, stated that Mr. Nagy bought €9 million worth of ammunition that we did not need and two days later presented them to Ukraine with a wave of his hand," the deputy speaker of the parliament said.

He stressed that in doing so, Nagy violated a number of laws governing the handling of state property.

"Now that it's time to show courage and take responsibility for his actions, he's just crying," Gaspar concluded.

The newspaper Dennik N reported on June 18 that police officers in Slovakia tried to detain Nadia. According to media reports, law enforcement agencies failed to find the ex-Minister of Defense in his house.

In May, Gaspar said that Slovakia does not plan to participate in the supply of weapons to Ukraine, as well as in sending military personnel.
