- Zakharova called the information about the closure of Russian schools in Azerbaijan a fake

Moscow and Baku intend to coordinate their joint efforts to minimize fakes about the relations between the two countries. This was stated on July 2 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, after the Ministry of Education and Science of Azerbaijan denied information in the media about alleged plans to stop teaching in Russian in the republic.
The diplomat noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry had seen publications on some Azerbaijani media resources that Russian-language schools would allegedly be closed in the country.
"At the same time, well, after some time, given the huge number of questions that immediately arose, the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan denied this information. We are closely monitoring the situation and maintain constant contact with the Azerbaijani side in this regard," Zakharova said at a briefing.
She added that her Azerbaijani colleagues very timely refuted this stuffing.
"Because it's not just about, you know, a political science phenomenon or some kind of philosophical one, it's about the specific destinies of specific people. Therefore, I think that we will continue to coordinate our actions with our colleagues to, so to speak, minimize the damage from such fakes and stuffing," the diplomat said.
On June 29, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan decided to cancel all events in the country that were planned by Russian institutions in the country. This decision was connected with the detention by the Yekaterinburg police of gang members in the Sverdlovsk region, which included representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora. Security forces in Baku conducted an operation in the office of Sputnik Azerbaijan on June 30. Later, it was reported about the detention of two Russian journalists — Igor Kartavykh, the head of the agency's editorial office, and Evgeny Belousov, the editor-in-chief.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 2 that Moscow sees Kiev's attempts to unbalance relations between Russia and Azerbaijan and provoke tension between the two countries. He noted that the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, is in constant contact with the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan.
