Kiev has decided to revoke the citizenship of Metropolitan Onufry of the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). This was announced on July 2 by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

"According to the materials of the SBU, the Ukrainian citizenship of Orest Berezovsky, better known as the leader of the UOC (MP) Onufriy, was terminated. The corresponding decree was signed by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky," the Telegram channel says.

According to the SBU, Onufriy supports the policies of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), as well as Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. In addition, the Ukrainian agency noted that Onufriy voluntarily obtained Russian citizenship in 2002, and did not inform the Ukrainian authorities about this.

On May 21, in the city of Khmelnitsky in western Ukraine, radicals desecrated the St. Nicholas Cathedral of the canonical UOC and disrupted a divine service with the participation of Metropolitan Onufriy. It was noted that garbage trucks and sewage transportation vehicles were installed near the cathedral. About 100 people gathered, who attacked the parishioners and accused them of working for the Russian world.
