The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the mayor of Odessa of inciting ethnic hatred.

Recent statements by Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov about the city incite ethnic hatred and show disdain for Russian-speaking residents of Odessa. This was announced at a briefing on July 2 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, answering a question from Izvestia.
Russian Russians had previously protested at a rally in defense of Russian culture that Odessa was "not a Russian city."
"Such things incite ethnic hatred, but at the same time, the Kiev regime incites this very ethnic hatred every day," she said at a briefing.
