Russia is working on retaliatory measures for the work of the Polish consulate in the country after the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Krakow. This was announced on July 2 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Currently, retaliatory measures are being worked out to adjust the Polish presence, meaning the consular presence in our country," she said during a briefing.

It is noted that now consular services for Russians in Poland will be provided by the Russian Embassy in Warsaw, as well as the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in the city of Gdansk. Thus, Russians can apply to any specialized Russian institution abroad to receive consular services.

According to Zakharova, Warsaw continues to carry out actions aimed at "dismantling" bilateral relations with the Russian side. She clarified that the consequences for Poland and the initiators of this decision will be "tangible."

The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Krakow stopped its work on June 27. Andrei Ordash, Charge d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Poland, also stressed that the parties had signed the latest documents, and the Consulate General building had been handed over to the Polish side.

On the same day, Ordash admitted that the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Krakow was an act of openly unfriendly actions on the part of the Polish authorities.
