Russian-Chinese dialogue on technological cooperation to continue in Yekaterinburg

From July 7 to 10, 2025, Yekaterinburg will host the 9th Russian-Chinese Expo, a key trade, industrial, convention and exhibition platform that promotes the expansion and diversification of business partnership between Russia and China. One of the central events of the business program will be the panel discussion "Russian-Chinese Technological Cooperation: best practices and success factors", which will be held on July 8 with the support of the Roscongress Foundation.

The event will be a logical continuation of the annual business dialogue between Russia and China, traditionally held within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. In 2025, on the sidelines of the SPIEF, special attention was paid to issues of industrial cooperation, digital transformation and technological sovereignty, as well as support for bilateral initiatives in the field of high technologies.

Zeng Aiguo, President of the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, said: "There is more to our project to integrate Russian and Chinese technologies than just deepening cooperation. We propose to create an "exemplary model" – a locomotive that will not only overcome the current negative trends, but also set a powerful impetus for the development of partnerships in other strategically important areas."

The session is organized by the National Coordination Center for International Business Cooperation (NCC IBC) and the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce for Cooperation with Russia and the CIS countries. Kirill Babayev, President of the NCC IBC, and Zeng Aiguo, President of the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, will moderate the discussion. Among the participants are representatives of federal and regional authorities, business circles, industry associations, scientific and technological centers.

"The St. Petersburg Forum has become an important point of fixation of mutual expectations of Russia and China in the field of technological cooperation. In Yekaterinburg, we will continue this dialogue on an applied level, with an emphasis on specific projects and institutional support mechanisms," Kirill Babaev said.

The participants will focus on the role of government agencies, regional administrations, businesses, and development institutions in shaping a sustainable model of Russian-Chinese technological partnership, as well as issues of expanding and deepening cooperation in a multipolar world. Special attention will be paid to practical aspects of cooperation in the field of innovation, logistics, financial instruments, technical regulation and technology transfer.

Holding the discussion on the site of the Russian-Chinese Expo underlines the high level of trust between the countries and the common interest in launching new joint initiatives. The discussion is intended to lay the foundation for the formation of sustainable mechanisms for technological interaction and the further strengthening of international business cooperation.
