Allergy sufferers have a reduced risk of developing certain types of cancer. Andrey Prodeus, Professor, chief pediatric allergologist and immunologist at the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, told about this in the new Izvestia podcast.

"Nature did not create allergies to annoy humans. Antibodies were created by nature so that we could powerfully fight infection. People with severe allergies have significantly lower risks of certain types of cancers, because their immune system is hyperactive and suppresses these cancers faster. For example, lung or colon cancer," says the doctor.

At the same time, he noted that during the period of exacerbation of an allergic reaction, it is better to stop drinking alcohol. Alcohol can make you feel worse.

"I would not recommend drinking alcohol at this time. If a person has allergic manifestations, histamine is released, there is swelling, some people have fever, there is already a slight violation of well—being and coordination, and alcohol contributes even more to this process," said Prodeus.
