WP reported on the confusion of Ukrainian officials due to the termination of US supplies

Ukrainian officials were at a loss after the unexpected decision of the United States to suspend the supply of air defense ammunition to Ukraine. The Washington Post wrote about this on July 2.

It is indicated that the Ukrainian officials interviewed by WP either declined to comment or admitted that they were caught off guard.

"We are now asking the Americans what is really going on," a senior Ukrainian source told the newspaper, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic.

WP also cites White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly, who said that the decision was made after the recognition of insufficient US weapons stocks. According to her, the supplies were suspended primarily in the interests of America.

On the same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned John Ginkel, Charge d'affaires of the United States in Ukraine, to discuss with the diplomat Washington's decision to stop military aid to Kiev. According to the agency's website, the Ukrainian side stressed that the delay in the supply of weapons would only worsen the situation at the front.

As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented, the suspension of United States supplies of ammunition to Ukraine means not only Washington's shortage of them, but also the hope for a faster end to the special military operation (SVO).
