In the Kemerovo region, a court sentenced Andrei Smirnov, a resident of Belovo, to 16 years in prison in a case of treason. This was announced on Wednesday, June 2, on the website of the regional prosecutor's office.

"The court found that in 2022, Smirnov, who shares a pro—Ukrainian position, while on the territory of Kuzbass, carried out computer attacks on the information resources of our country using malware," the department said.

They noted that due to the actions of the defendant, the websites of some companies were unavailable.

It clarifies that the attacker was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("High treason") and Part 1 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code ("Use of malicious computer programs"). Smirnov was sentenced to 16 years in prison to be served in a high-security penal colony and fined 100,000 rubles.

On the same day, it was reported that a resident of the Tomsk region was detained for handing over photographs of military installations to the special services of Ukraine. According to the FSB of Russia in the region, the accused took photographs of military installations in order to further use them in planning and committing sabotage and terrorist attacks.
