The telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron was very informative. This was announced on July 2 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.

"There were no requests from Germany or Britain [for talks with Putin]. The initiative was from the French side," he said at a briefing.

At the same time, there were no requests from Germany and the UK to hold talks with the Russian president, Peskov added.
