- The Federation Council approved an increase in fines for failure to inform the military enlistment office about the move

On July 2, the Federation Council approved a bill to increase the fine to 20,000 rubles for failure to inform the military enlistment office about the move.
"The law provides for strengthening the administrative responsibility of citizens for not informing the military enlistment office about moving to a new place of residence...> Such violations will now be punished from 10 to 20 thousand [rubles]," Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma's Defense Committee, said during the government hour in the Federation Council.
According to the adopted amendments, the amount of the fine for non-compliance with the rules of military registration increases from the current 1-5 thousand rubles to 10-20 thousand rubles.
Punishment is threatened to those citizens who have not notified the military enlistment office or the primary military registration authority about moving to a new place of residence, if it is not confirmed by official registration. In addition, the fine will be applied to those who did not appear at the military enlistment office within the prescribed time after such a move.
It is specified that the bill is aimed at strengthening control over military registration and ensuring timely information to military commissariats about a change of residence.
The Russian government has supported a bill to toughen penalties for failure to notify military enlistment offices of the fact of relocation on February 3. His initiator was Deputy Kartapolov. On June 24, the draft was adopted by the State Duma in the second and third final readings.
