- Sobyanin spoke about the successes of Moscow schoolchildren at creative competitions

There are over 150 urban educational institutions of creative orientation in Moscow, where more than 40 directions in the field of music, painting, choreography and theater are taught. This was stated by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
In total, about 100 thousand children study at Moscow art schools.
Last academic year alone, students from Moscow art schools represented the capital at more than 20 venues around the world. "Muscovites have won prizes at creative competitions in Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Spain, China, Cyprus, the Netherlands, the USA, Switzerland and other countries: a total of 10,000 awards, diplomas and prizes, including more than 280 Grand Prix," Sobyanin wrote on his personal blog.
In addition, the capital's schoolchildren were awarded more than 16,000 awards at national and regional competitions and festivals, the mayor noted.
For example, in March, a student of the MGKMI Children's Music School named after F. Chopin's Alexei Mishchenko won first prize at the International Golden Classical Music Awards in New York. He performed Chopin's ballad No. 1 and Mozart's sonata in B-flat major on the piano.
Maya Shelikhova became the winner of the International Cultural and Art Competition "Festival&Contest" in Spain. A student of the Kuskovo Moscow State University, in particular, performed Grandjani's "Fantasy on the Theme of J. Haydn" and Zabel's "Dreams".Tournier on the harp.
The entire podium at the International Children's Festival-Competition of multigenre Art for Children and Youth "Lion Cub" in Belarus was taken by students of the Kozlovsky Children's Art School. Dana Shakova won the first place in the competition of solo performers.
According to Sobyanin, "the recognition of the skills and talents of Moscow children at Russian and international competitions is a vivid testimony to the quality of Moscow's creative education." The capital's art schools "help in the harmonious development of children and give a start in life to new generations of talents," he stressed.
